Tractor-Trailer vs. SUV Crash on I-80; Four Medical Helicopters Dispatched
A second tractor-trailer was also involved in the crash.
Clarion County 9-1-1 said the accident was called in around 4:22 p.m. on Interstate 80 westbound near mile marker 53.
Knox Volunteer Fire Company, ambulance services from Knox, Clarion Hospital, and Emlenton, and Clarion-based State Police were dispatched to the scene.
According to Clarion County 9-1-1, four helicopters – three from STAT MedEvac and one from Life Flight – were also called to the scene.
All four women in the SUV are in or were in the ICU. One however is still not responding well and is 4 hours from home. With the whole left side of her body broken and battered and using a breathing tube to stay with us Grandma J has been blessed by the Lord to be alive but her recovery is in it's infancy. Being that she is 4 hours from home her husband has to travel back and forth and also staying in hotels since the ICU doesn't allow him to stay at the hospital with her. The insurance will cover most of the medical expenses but not all of them. The more prominent issue at this time is the hotel bills stacking up.
As you are aware, once you retire your monthly income slowly erodes by inflation so you can probably imagine how much expendable income two great grandparents have to combat these bills.
We have prayed for a miracle in recovery but now we are praying that everyone can chip in a little here or there to help Grandpa J stay close to Grandma in what looks to be months of recover until she can be moved closer to home.
**Update, breathing tube has been removed and the brain bleeding has slowed down. Internal bleeding has also slowed down.
**Update, Grandma J has been able to answer a couple yes/no questions but is still not fully alert. Good enough to start smaller surgeries. First up, her arm.
**Update, Grandma J's Left Arm (Compound Fracture) has been "Fixed" and the wound has been stitched shut.
