April Michael is the best grammy my two year old daughter could ever ask for. She works two jobs and is constantly on the move to do whatever she can for her family, friends, and co-workers. Asking for help is something that has never come easy for April, but after all she has done for us I've decided to set this up to try and get her some help that she truly deserves.

April was diagnosed with rectal cancer in February of 2023, and decided to move forward with chemotherapy and radiation while continuing to work full-time at DuBois McDonald's and part-time at the DuBois Dollar Tree. After completing the suggested course of treatment, despite the struggles, she was told she was in remission in July of 2023. She was diligent about keeping her checkups to make sure everything was still alright. Unfortunately at one of her checkups, they had found something . Upon being referred to a team of doctors at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, she was told her cancer has returned and is in a deeper location that will require surgery in order to combat and, god willing, completely remove.

A preliminary appointment to meet with the surgeons and anesthesiologist is scheduled for September 9th in Cleveland Ohio.

Surgery is scheduled for September 10th in Cleveland as well.

All of this is out of her insurance network, but this place is the best and we need to fight this.

Doctors have already explained that it will take at least 8 weeks after the surgery to heal, as April was wanting to continue working both jobs. She may not be able to.

April has applied to an assistance office through the Dubois hospital to aid for a gas card already and is waiting to hear back, as these things can take some time.

April has worked at DuBois McDonald's for over 20 years of her life and has, more often than not, also held a second part-time job to make ends meet. She allows my daughter's father and myself to work full-time by spending time with her granddaughter whenever she is able so we can work our odd hour jobs. She takes every Sunday to spend a full day with Kaya, who loves her Grammy more than anything and needs her to be around to be a part of her future.

April would never ask herself, but no matter how hard-working a person is, we all need help sometimes. The drive to Cleveland is about 3 hours there and another 3 hours back. April probably wont be able to work for the 8 weeks minimum of healing it will take after her surgery. While we are not expecting anyone to pay all of her medical bills or completely demolish the mountain of financial stress this has created, any little bit to help April pay her appointment costs, bills or get by while healing without worrying herself sick would help more than I could ever explain on here.
