On Thanksgiving, Gramma Judy experienced an episode of spontaneous, excruciating pain that rushed her up to the hospital. She was later discharged with no diagnosis, and left with no answers. For months, she pushed and advocated for herself to find answers on what was causing this now debilitating pain. After various tests and doctor's visits, the PET scan in January confirmed that she had stage four lung cancer that had metastasized into other parts of her body. Since then, she’s been in and out of the hospital, having daily appointments between radiation and chemotherapy starting this coming week. Through it all, she lives for her family and keeps a smile on her face, especially for her grandbabies and great-grandbabies.

Back when Judy started experiencing pain, Jackie, Judy’s daughter, immediately left her position to be home full-time with Judy. One thing that Judy has instilled in our brains is that family takes care of family. And that’s exactly what Jackie and the rest of the family have done to make sure Judy gets the best care she possibly can.

I am Megan, the granddaughter-in-law of Judy. I have known her for over 10 years, and in those 10 years, I’ve seen her take care of everyone around her. I’ve heard stories from various people that she’s always taken care of everyone else. When no one was there, Judy was there. So please, help me be part in helping her through this incredibly difficult journey. If you can donate a dollar, great. Any dollar donated will go the cost of medical bills and supplies that her insurance isn’t covering. Currently we are in the works of getting her a hospital bed and other supplies to help her needs at home.
