Elvis’s two-year-old son looks up every time someone comes to the door, expecting his Dad. But Elvis was chased down and abducted by ICE on January 18 along with a co-worker in Chantilly, VA while heading to work. His four boys at Blair HS, SSIMS, Rolling Terrace and Judy Center are lost without him. His wife Graciela (alias) is working intensely to collect letters of support and find a sponsor to free Elvis on bond, while juggling to support her kids ages 2 to 17. While she scrapes together money to pay legal fees, asking friends and family for help, she and her boys need help to cover food and rent. Rent is due at the beginning of the month and though Graciela makes Guatemalan tamales to sell on weekends, her small business income doesn’t stretch far enough.

Elvis and Graciela have been married for more than 15 years. Elvis is a fun, funny, and caring dad who loves sports. The family lives near Rolling Terrace ES and the boys, all born in the US, play soccer, practice karate, and watch their dad play in a local soccer league. But now the family is afraid to leave home, and they miss Elvis terribly.

Elvis has a gift for renovation. He is timely, responsible, and sociable, and he is good at what he does. The people whose houses he has fixed up call him back time and again. He has never had a run-in with the law. He left Guatemala when he was young because there was no work or way to support a family. In the US, he and Graciela created their family and a life together by working hard. Now they face a situation worse than what they left behind, of Elvis is unjustly in detention.

The family urgently needs to pay the monthly rent of $1,720. And Graciela has to feed 4 hungry boys. Even with the generosity of friends and families, they still need $2,500 a month to get by.
