Help Grace March DCI Guardians 2022

Hello! My name is Grace DuBose, and I am seventeen years old. I attend Sunnyvale High School as a senior performing in the Sunnyvale Raider Pride Marching Band. After graduation, I will attend Tyler Junior College majoring in public relations. I also plan on being a color guard member of TJC's Apache Band. While COVID-19 has had such a ginormous impact on the world and has taken many things away, one thing has remained: my love for dance and my passion for Color Guard. Through a lot of preparation, hard work, dedication, and an audition camp, I am humbly excited to announce Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps have offered me a contract to perform as a member of their color guard team.

Drum Corps International (DCI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the performing arts of marching music to life. It allows thousands of 14 to 21-year-old musicians to develop as performers, improve their leadership, social, and musical skills, travel across the country (and sometimes the world), compete against other drum corps, make friends, and have life-changing experiences. Since joining my high school's Color Guard team, I have been fascinated by marching drum corps. My guard instructor is a Guardians alumna who shares experiences and procedures she has picked up along the road. I want to not only follow in her footsteps, but also to expand my knowledge and push myself to be the best asset for their team.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been selected for their Color Guard team. However, I am currently under a lot of financial and tuition pressure. Tuition payments cover all marching tour expenditures, including accommodation, equipment, food, spring/summer training, camps, and so on. This summer would be extremely valuable to my growth, and I hope to continue learning new skills while also assisting the other corps members in having a memorable summer. Tuition must be paid in full by August after my DCI experience ends.
