Help Grace Get Life-Saving Jaw Surgery at Mbingo Baptist Mission Hospital, Cameroon
My name is Dr. P Moses Fraser, a practicing medical doctor currently living in the United States.
During a recent trip to Ghana, I met a woman whose story I could not ignore — Grace, a 61-year-old woman living with a large, recurrent ameloblastoma, a rare and aggressive tumor of the jaw. The tumor has severely deformed her face. Out of respect for her privacy, we will not be sharing photographs.
Grace has undergone four major surgeries at teaching hospitals in Ghana over the years. Unfortunately, due to the lack of specialized head and neck surgical expertise, the tumor continues to recur.
The swelling causes her constant pain, difficulty eating, and significant emotional distress. Yet despite all of this, Grace continues to face life with remarkable strength and faith.
When I met her, I felt deeply compelled to help — even though I did not yet know how. After reaching out to organizations and specialists worldwide, I was finally connected with Dr. Mark Snell and Professor Koch, Head of Head and Neck Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Institute, who have graciously agreed to perform Grace’s complex jaw resection and reconstruction surgery at Mbingo Baptist Mission Hospital in Cameroon, West Africa.
However, we must raise funds to cover the cost of her surgery, hospital stay, recovery, and travel from Ghana to Cameroon.
What’s Needed:
Hospital stay & post-operative care (2-3 months): $6,000
Flights for Grace & caregiver: $1,400
Lodging & meals ($20/day × 90 days): $3,600
CT scans, labs, and medical imaging: $1,000
➡️ Total Needed: $12,000 USD
