TLDR: In April, I adopted Gouda from Resilient Hearts Animal Sanctuary after fostering her for a month. She quickly became my best friend and sidekick. Now, she’s facing a serious medical emergency, and her treatment will cost around $9,000. I'm in-between jobs and funds are limited. I’m asking for help to cover her medical bills and make sure she gets to continue living life to the fullest. Any donation would mean the world to us. Thank you for your support!
Full length version:
I’m reaching out to ask you all for help with a medical emergency for my 10-month-old dog, Gouda.
In March, I left my 9-5 job to pursue my dream of starting a business and trying out dog fostering. For the past 10 years, I had wanted a dog, but the timing was never right. Then, in April, I met Gouda (formerly named Crow) at Resilient Hearts Animal Sanctuary. She came from an unexpected litter. I didn’t know much about her but was assigned to foster her for 5 days.
Gouda was shy, scared, and reserved, but I made it my mission to help her come out of her shell and live the best life possible. She quickly became my best friend, my sidekick, and I knew I had to adopt her.
The past 8 months with her have been amazing, though funds have been tight. My business is currently on pause, I'm in-between jobs, and my savings are limited.
Now, Gouda needs your help.
About a week ago, she started showing signs of illness—vomiting, loss of appetite, food refusal, and lethargy. After 2 visits to the vet urgent care, they still couldn’t determine the cause. Last night, things took a turn for the worse—she became severely dehydrated, and I had to rush her to the emergency vet again. Without immediate treatment, she was at risk of going into shock and was almost hypothermic.
After x-rays, an ultrasound, blood work, and a feeding tube for fluid removal—we discovered that her stomach and intestines are inflamed, causing a blockage. The cause of the inflammation is still unknown, but her current condition requires 24-hour intensive care to survive. She'll need to stay at the hospital for close monitoring and to have a chance at recovery.
Total cost of her treatment is estimated to be $9,000, and I need your help to cover the bills. Any donation, big or small, will make a huge difference. If you're unable to donate, please consider sharing this page with others who may be able to help.
Thank you so much for your support and love.
