Our sweet cat Gotts is scheduled for a treatment that will potentially cure her hyperthyroidism and greatly improve her quality of life! While this is wonderful news, the cost is much more than we were anticipating.

After Gotts was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2023, we were able to stabilize her condition for the most part, but unfortunately the side effects from the medication presented even more challenges for our girl. That’s why we decided to persue a different type of treatment.

Radioactive iodine is given as a single shot and targets the thyroid, almost always curing the patient of hyperthyroidism. In preparation for the treatment, the vet found that Gotts’ thyroid levels were extremely high and not treatable at their clinic, so we have been referred to UGA’s animal hospital. The extra care that Gotts will need comes at a higher price, but it is so worth it to us if it means Gotts will feel better. She is our whole world.
