Help Gopal Get a New Car!
Donation protected
Okay y’all— Gopal needs a new car and we are gonna make this happen.
On his way to work on Friday Dec. 16, Gopal’s car hit black ice and swerved off the road. His car got completely totaled.
We are SO grateful that he is not aware of any major injuries— just in a lot of shock. His partner was driving behind him and was able to help him as the ambulances were arriving.
Gopal was driving with a suspended license because of tickets that he couldn’t pay off (for anyone who doesn’t know—the cops in the Hudson Valley are excessive ticket givers) and now he is at risk for arrest and/or receiving further charges due to the state of his license.
This is such a clear example of how the punitive ‘justice’ system traps and harms working class people who are literally trying their best to pay bills and get out of situations like these.
Gopal is one of the most compassionate, caring, thoughtful, and honest people I know. He is cherished by so many folks in this community and is always the person to go out of his way to show love for others.
Gopal is an incredible cook at West Taghkanik Diner and is now compromised in getting to work every day. Please support Gopal in getting a 4WD car, taking care of his health and body after the accident, and paying off any fees needed to get back his license.
** If you have a car to donate/sell or live in the bioregion and are able to offer Gopal bodywork and/or other types of healing support, please contact [phone redacted].
