This gofund me is to help my friend and companion Goose with the medical care he needs.
Goose is a kitty with chronic illness. He got toxoplasmosis when he was a kitten playing outside and he almost died. Making it through this he ended up with chronic diahrea and has struggled with weight.
In February he got diagnosed with fatty liver disease and I overtaxed myself financially to help him recover in the hospital. After all this, unfortunately the pills that I gave him during his recovery caused him to injure his esophagus. If you have a cat, please follow up their pills with a little bit of water (even if a vet tech tells you not to). Or stop the pills if it seems to be bothering them and get an alternative!! This could have made all the difference.
He now has a stricture which means that he struggles to pass hairballs and will gag up anything that isn't blended food. He also is at risk of his esophagus closing up and pnemonia if not treated. Goose who is only 5 years old and full of life. I want him to live a full life where he can swallow without fear of injury.
Goose is a very sassy cat. When he trusts you, he is one of the most tender cats I've ever met. He will hold your hand. He will hug your head and sleep with you all night long. He will sit on your lap and cuddle for hours. He will also get in his feels and dig his claws into your scalp! He feels a lot very deeply. He loves his routines and enjoys catching mice, sleeping in cardboard boxes and eating grass whenever he can.
Goose has a sister and they have a strong bond that if separated would be very difficult for her too.
If able, I would be grateful for any donation to support an esophageal ballooning procedure or additional medical care for Goose to help him return to a long and happy life. Any financial support would help to cover the procedure or additional medical care.
The ballooning procedure costs $5,000 (scope, anesthesia, fluids and procedure) and I hope that with support I can have some of this covered. Otherwise additional vet appointments and procedures could be around $2,000 so if I go a different route that will offer options. Unfortunately no pet insurance covers prexisting conditions and so I'm out of luck there.
Thank you for reading this and for donating if you choose. I appreciate your support more than words can say. He is a part of my family and has been with me through the ups and downs.
