Help Goose “Bring Back That Lovin’ Feeling”
Anybody who has met our Goose knows that he is the most lovable, affectionate, and all-around bro that has ever been- including people. He loves all of his friends, or as he knows you, auntie and uncle, grandma and grandpa, and is NEVER shy to show it. Goose is our lovable, huggable, handsome guy, who loves everyone, plain and simple.
Now we have a chance to show him how much we love him back.
Our two-year-old little buddy is in a bad place, guys.
On Thursday, August 27, Ally noticed that something wasn’t right with Goose. He had a couple of accidents outside the litter box, and was unable to urinate in the box when he tried. Even worse, he was in pain, and we could see it.
We instantly rushed him to Pieper-Olson’s Emergency Room in Middletown and he was diagnosed with Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD.) This condition is particularly dangerous and potentially deadly in male cats because of the serious possibility of complete urinary blockage. Such a consequence is almost guaranteed to be fatal, as the kidneys become unable to filter out urinary toxins, leading to blood poisoning, heart failure, etc.
Despite that prognosis, the doctor found no such blockages, issued pain medication and an otherwise clean bill of health.
Until today, one week later, September 3rd, Goose’s health took a nosedive. We flew him right back to PO and learned that over the past couple of days, he had developed a calcium blockage in his urethra, and he would need to be rushed into surgery to clear it.
We’re scared, guys. We’re not going to sugar-coat it. The doctor sounded confident that the procedure would be a success today, but this is unfortunately a condition that he’s going to battle for the rest of his life. Now we are prepared to deal with that, whatever it entails, but right now we have to get him over this first major hurdle.
That’s where you can come in, if you’re up for it. Today’s procedure ran a cool $1500.00, with the doctor noting it might run as high as $1800.00, if he has to be held there for a couple of days.
With COVID in full-swing, Ally and Michael have been out of their main jobs for the past 5 months. Michael has gone back to work a few days a week when he’s lucky, and Ally has started real estate full time, but those paychecks only come at the close of a sale, which hasn’t happened yet. They were approved for a care credit line which will hopefully save them on the interest a regular credit card would impose, but would appreciate any help with the cost of Goose’s unforeseen surgery. We know these are tough times for everyone, but we’re hoping if you can help, that you will find it in your heart to do so.
I think I speak for everyone when I say, we want many more happy, healthy years with our favorite little wing man.
Thank you so much. We love you all morethan you’ll ever know.
Ally, Michael, Maverick, and Goose
