Goose is just 3 years old and already has a heartbreaking story. He is a rescue who has been surrendered twice — not because of behavior issues, but because he was diagnosed with heartworm, and his previous owners were unable or unwilling to take on the long and expensive treatment process.

Despite all of this, Goose is still incredibly loving, gentle, and full of life. He adores people and truly is my best friend.

About Goose’s Condition:

Heartworm is a serious and potentially fatal disease caused by parasites living in the heart and lungs. Without treatment, it will slowly damage his organs and eventually take his life.

The good news is heartworm is treatable — but the process is long, strict, and costly. Its takes 6-9 months and the costs are estimated to be $5000. “
