Hi. I’m Chef Jasmine and my husband and I are the owners of Good Eats Catering and Food Truck. Unfortunately we have had some setbacks lately and have to ask for some help. Please help in any way you can even if that means sharing to everyone you know. Our story is below.

I’ve been really hesitant to even share this because I’m just not into showing too many emotions. However this really hit me deep in my soul so I wanna have a moment of transparency.

This past Tuesday I woke up to take my 3-year old to preschool. I figured I would go move the car closer to the front door to make it easier to load the kids in. We’ve been using our work truck to get around because our main vehicle was stolen a little over a month ago (that’s a story for another day) I then discovered that not only did someone break into my truck but also my food trailer and completely destroyed everything. They stole almost everything of value including our generator (for the third time ), tools, jumper box and no telling what else.

I feel so violated and angry because we literally built this from the ground up. We didn’t have investors or loans to help us. We used our own money, our own resources, OUR own hands to repair, paint, build etc. So for someone to steal from us, destroy our things and ruin the way we provide for our family really pisses me off and breaks my spirit. This wasn’t a hobby. This was a source of income, a way for us to create generational wealth for our children. Most of all, it was OURS. Something we love; literally a dream come true.

My main goal has always been to provide amazing food for MY community. I wanted to show people that they don’t have to leave the neighborhood to get food made with fresh ingredients, made with love. This is why when people ask “why don’t you go downtown or to the suburbs” it bothered me. This community raised me, it made me who I am and this was our way of giving back. I’m hurt more than anything. We weren’t prepared for something like this so this really hits hard. All I know is this is going to take some serious time to rebuild.
