Help Gomjenica Rebuild After Flood

Sa teškim srcem želim podijeliti vijest o katastrofalnoj poplavi koja je pogodila naselje Gomjenica u opštini Prijedor u zapadnom dijelu Bosne i Hercegovine. Ova prirodna katastrofa je dovela grad u stanje vanredne situacije, a stotine stanovnika se sada suočavaju s nezamislivim.

Do sada je prijavljeno da je više od 600 objekata ozbiljno pogođeno — domovi, poslovni objekti, crkve, pa čak i farme. Poplavne vode su preplavile sve na svom putu, uništavajući lične stvari, usjeve, stoku i još mnogo toga.

Građani Gomjenice su među najugroženijima u ovom regionu, sa ograničenim resursima, a ovaj strašan događaj ih je doveo do ozbiljne finansijske krize. Mnogi su stariji ljudi koji nemaju podršku porodice ili zajednice da im pomogne u prevazilaženju ove tragedije.

Među pogođenima je i moja baka, koja živi u Gomjenici. Njen dom, kao i domovi njenih komšija, potopljeni su do prvog sprata. Lične stvari, porodični predmeti, neophodni predmeti su uništeni. Njene koke, kao i stoka komšija, sve je uništeno poplavama. I dok moja majka hitno putuje kako bi bila uz nju i pomogla joj, mnogi drugi u zajednici ostali su bez pomoći i suočavaju se sa zadatkom da iznova izgrade svoje živote.

Ova GoFundMe kampanja je postavljena kako bi se podržala ne samo moja baka, već i svi građani Gomjenice koji su pogođeni ovom katastrofom. Stariji stanovnici, porodice s malom djecom i ljudi koji su izgubili svoje domove hitno trebaju pomoć. Mnogi nemaju nikakve izvore prihoda ili resurse koji bi im pomogli da se oporave.

Ljubazno vas molim da podržite ovu kampanju, bez obzira na to koliko je donacija velika ili mala. Svaka donacija će biti usmjerena direktno na pružanje pomoći građanima Gomjenice – kako bi obnovili svoje domove, zamijenili uništene stvari i izgradili svoje živote nakon ove katastrofe.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of a catastrophic flood that has struck the town of Gomjenica in Prijedor, located in the western part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This natural disaster has left the city in a state of emergency, with hundreds of residents now facing the unimaginable.

So far, it has been reported that over 600 buildings have been severely impacted—homes, businesses, churches, and even farms. The floodwaters have submerged everything in their path, destroying personal belongings, crops, livestock, and more.

The people of Gomjenica are among the most vulnerable in the region, with limited resources to begin with, and this devastating event has put them in a desperate financial crisis. Many residents, especially the elderly, do not have the support of family or community networks to help them navigate this disaster.

Among those affected is my grandmother, who lives in Gomjenica. Her home, along with those of her neighbors, has been submerged up to the first floor. Personal belongings, family heirlooms, and essential items have been ruined. Her chickens, her neighbors' farm animals—everything has been damaged by the floodwaters. While my mother is rushing to her side to provide support, many others in the community are left without any assistance, facing the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from the damage.

This GoFundMe campaign is being set up to not only support my grandmother but also to help as many affected citizens if possible. Elderly residents, families with young children, and people who have lost their homes are in urgent need of aid. Many do not have any means of income or resources to help them recover.

I humbly ask for your support, no matter how big or small. Every donation will go directly toward providing for the immediate needs of the residents of Gomjenica/Prijedor—helping them restore their homes, replace damaged belongings, and rebuild their lives after this devastating disaster.
