Help Gomez Get Treatments!

Hi!
Thank you for taking the time to read about my cat, Gomez. To give some history, I have been with Gomez since 2020 and he is my soul cat. Ever since then we have been inseparable and bonded through and through. I can’t even begin to explain how much he has done for me, and how many dark places he’s helped me get through.
My poor boy has been plagued with health problems ever since I adopted him from a cat colony when he was 3 years old. He is now 7 years old, and I have probably spent over 10,000$ already on his medical bills over the past 4 years.

Gomez has always been a complex case medically, but lately it seems he’s had a lot of weird diagnoses. He was diagnosed with a rare form of tapeworm, heartworms, and is still undiagnosed for other possible infectious diseases or cancer. He also got diagnosed with stage 2 chronic kidney disease, ileus (idiopathic), pulmonary hypertension, GI disease (idiopathic) and he may have the beginnings of iris melanoma.

He has nodules in his stomach which are not improving with current treatment, and the next step is an endoscopy and biopsy. He has so far received 2 abdominal ultrasounds, thoracic imaging, aspirates of the nodules (that were not diagnostic), an echocardiogram, ophthalmology exams, 3 fecals, CBC/chemistries, GI panels, fungal cultures, bacterial cultures, specialty panels, and so many medications.

He has to have rechecks every 2-3 months for ophthalmology, every 6 months for cardiology, and is currently seeing internal medicine about every month for rechecks and game plans.

Currently, I have an outstanding balance with the MSU Veterinary Hospital for a bit over 3,000$ without including the endoscopy/biopsy and the monthly interest. This is including my student discount which I am so thankful to receive. I am waiting to receive the invoice for his future surgery.

I am about to start my 3rd-year of veterinary school, and my entire income is student loans. I am about 170,000$ in debt with my schooling, and I max out my loans and scrape by throughout the year. We are advised not to work during school as we have lectures/labs full-time which makes it difficult to support all of my bills.

Gomez is my baby and anyone who knows us knows that I will do anything for him. I was planning on maxing out my credit cards and care credit for him, but my therapist recommended that I reach out with gofundme first. Here is a picture of us right after I adopted him:

I appreciate that you cared enough to read about my baby. Thank you so much. He means the world to me and I won’t stop fighting for
him because he deserves the best.
