Goldilocks, a young standard poodle, was found abandoned in a box with a 'free dog' sign in the New Orleans area. A kind-hearted person brought her to a local animal shelter, where staff were shocked by her condition. She was severely matted, dangerously thin, and so weak she could barely move. The shelter staff performed an emergency shave and discovered she was only 15 pounds—less than half of what a healthy standard poodle her age should weigh. Large sores had formed on her elbows, and she was extremely dehydrated. Despite her suffering, Goldilocks managed a gentle tail wag, showing her sweet spirit even in the worst circumstances.
Recognizing the severity of her condition and the extensive care she would need, the shelter reached out to Creole Poodle Rescue. Our rescue quickly arranged for Goldilocks to be transported to Sherwood South Animal Hospital and Emergency Care Center in Baton Rouge. There, Dr. Lee and the veterinary team began intensive treatment. Goldilocks will need at least a week of hospitalization, and in the coming weeks, she will require skin grafting surgery to treat the exposed bones on her elbows. The costs for her care will be significant, a challenge for our small rescue.
We are not a group that holds fundraisers every week, but Goldilocks's situation is urgent. We are asking for your help—no amount is too small. Your donation will go directly toward Goldilocks's medical care and recovery, giving her the second chance she deserves. Please consider supporting her journey back to health. Thank you for caring about Goldilocks and for being part of her rescue story.
