Goku has been part of our family since he was a tiny little meatball, and at 8 years old, he’s still our little buddy. He’s always been curious and full of energy, but recently that curiosity got him into trouble. Goku jumped up on the counter and got into the washing bin for our baby’s things, where he ate a nipple from a bottle. He vomited and stopped eating, so we rushed him to the vet. An x-ray showed the nipple was stuck in his intestines, and he needed emergency surgery to remove it.

After the surgery, Goku came home and we were glad to have him back home and thought everything was going well. But the next morning, he started spitting up and refused to eat. We took him back to the hospital, where they found he had developed an infection and a fever from his IV site. Since then, Goku has been in the hospital for 24-hour care and observation. His fever has gone up and down, and he’s still not eating much. The vets are doing everything they can, running tests and ultrasounds to figure out why he’s not recovering as quickly as they hoped. Since they haven’t found a specific reason, we’re hoping that his recovery is just going slower than expected due to the infection he’s fighting.

The costs for Goku’s surgery, hospital stays, medications, and ongoing tests are overwhelming. We want to give him the best chance at recovery, but it’s more than we can manage on our own.
