This is Goku. I adopted him from my school’s rescue last summer. He was picked up by Moore County Animal Control as a stray. Goku is thought to be a pitbull and Frenchie mix of some kind. His special breeding makes breathing difficult for him. Goku is very loving and gets so excited to meet new people and go outside. However, whenever Goku is excited, he struggles to breathe properly. This can become very dangerous to a point he would need medical intervention to stabilize him. Some brachycephalic breeds, such as Goku, are born with a long and soft palate that blocks the airway. There is a surgery called BOAS (brachycephalic obstructive airway surgery) that will greatly improve Goku’s quality of life. Unfortunately, because Goku was born with this condition, insurance does not cover this surgery. I am currently in vet tech school (where Goku was adopted) and am unable to comfortably afford this surgery now. If I cannot get Goku the surgery he needs, I will have no choice but to return him to the rescue for his benefit. The $2,500 will go towards the cost of the BOAS surgery which requires a specialist veterinarian. Goku has brightened my home since his arrival, so I can’t imagine giving him back. Goku has helped me through rough school days, family deaths, and cope with everyday stressors. Please consider donating so Goku can remain in his forever home.
