Help GnomeStruction get to the State Competition

We are GnomeStruction, a FIRST LEGO League team from Orlando Science Charter School. Since the start of the competition season this year, we’ve been able to rise above many of our peers from over 135 teams in the Central Florida area, and in March, we join other regional-winning teams at the
Florida State Championship – but, we need your help to get there!
Our seven-kid team includes STEM-focused girls and boys of varying ethnicities in 5th through 8th grade. Our team represents the strongest and most beloved qualities of the Orlando Science community.
At our qualifying event, we won for Best Robot Design and were the all-around Champion for that qualifier. This means we performed exceptionally well at:
Designing and presenting our research project
Working as a team that exemplified Gracious Professionalism
Engineering and coding our robot to complete missions on the obstacle field
At Regionals, our robot won the 1st Place for Strategy & Innovation award for Robot Design and a bid to the state competition (one of only nine teams to move on). This proves we’re strong enough to go up against the best robot designers, engineers, coders, and communicators among our peers and hold our own.
We accomplished this through weekly six-hour practice sessions, twice-weekly virtual meetings, and countless hours of chats and DMs between team members and parent coaches. Now, we’re ramping up our workload to go up against other teams who are the best out of hundreds of teams in our state!
Help Us Get To State
We need to get to Niceville, Florida, where the next level of competition is being held. That’s over 400 miles away (6 hours of drive time). We are asking for donations to help with transportation, accommodations, and registration fees. In total, that amounts to approximately $5,000 for the whole team.
Your support will help ensure that every team member gets to participate. We appreciate any amount that you are able to give.
We want to go, we want to work together, and we want to win (or at least have fun trying).

FIRST (For Recognition and Inspiration of Science and Technology) is a global robotics competition “built around theme-based Challenges to engage children ages 9 to [14] in research, problem solving, coding, and engineering. The foundation of the program is the FIRST® Core Values, which emphasize teamwork, discovery, and innovation.
