Help Gloria Stay Housed During Breast Cancer Surgery Recovery

My name is Katie and I’m creating this fundraiser for my mom, Gloria, as she faces one of the most difficult times in her life.

Gloria is 58 years old and was recently diagnosed with HER2-positive breast cancer. She has just completed her final round of chemotherapy and is now preparing for an upcoming lumpectomy surgery, which will be a major step in her treatment and recovery.

During her cancer treatment, Gloria struggled with both physical and mental health challenges that made it difficult to keep up with bills. She lives on SSI disability income, which is very limited. Unfortunately, after falling behind on rent, she and my brother Matthew—who has been helping care for her—were recently evicted from their apartment.

Right now, Gloria and Matthew are staying in a motel while trying to secure stable housing before her surgery. After paying for their room, they have very little money left and are facing uncertainty about food and housing in the days ahead.

Recovery from cancer surgery requires a safe and stable place to live. Without help, that stability is uncertain, and we are doing everything we can to make sure she has what she needs to recover safely.

We are working to connect her with local assistance programs and medical support services, but these processes can take time, and immediate needs are urgent.

We are asking for help to cover:

- Short-term motel or temporary housing costs

- Rental deposits and application fees

- Food and basic necessities

- Transportation to and from medical appointments

- Recovery needs following her lumpectomy
