Help Gloria & Paul as they recover!

Donation protected

Please help my lifelong BFF, Gloria, and her husband, Paul, as they recover from a catastrophic accident.  Late on the night of Monday, Dec 18, Gloria and Paul were traveling home from celebrating Christmas with their daughter, Mercedes and her family, in the UP. They almost made it home when tragedy struck. Read their daughter Meagan’s posts below for more details. They will have many unknown expenses related to their accident, which totaled their car and has left them both hospitalized in critical condition. It’s going to be a long recovery. To top it off, Paul is just coming off a several-years-long cancer journey and was finally in remission, but which has been debilitating right on the heels of recovering from a broken back. Gloria was still working, which won't be possible with her injuries for a long while. They’ve been life-long givers. Let’s show them love and support by giving back. It’s one way you can bless them!

“Friends, last night our beautiful parents were in a catastrophic car accident. They are both in critical condition at McLaren Oakland with brain injuries and other traumas. Please lift them up in prayer and keep my family in your thoughts.

Update 12/19 7:30pm: Thank you for all the prayers and kind words. There was so much improvement today and we feel buoyed along by your prayers. My mom is off a ventilator and breathing on her own. Her brain scans looks much better. Drs will be working on reconstructing her orbital bones and saving her eye. She has a broken arm, ribs, and sternum. She isn’t fully awake but we hope for more lucid moments in the days ahead

My dad was unable to come off a ventilator today but doctors will try again tomorrow. He did have increased brain bleeding in the early hours today but it had stabilized by afternoon. We pray that tomorrow brings more healing for him as well.

Update 12/20: My mom is awake and talking! Her neurosurgeon officially took her off his roster as her brain looks good. She is currently in surgery to repair several breaks in her arm. After surgery this evening she is getting a step down from the critical care wing. So, she’s doing really well. Her reconstruction surgery Friday will hopefully yield good results concerning her eye and orbital bones.
No change for my dad. He was unsuccessful at getting off the ventilator today. They’ll try again tomorrow. So please pray that he is calm as he comes out of sedation and is able to follow and comply with directions.

Thank you all so very very much. We can’t respond to everyone but appreciate your love and support.”
