Hello, my name is Maria Vazquez, and I am asking for help for my cousin, Gloria Vazquez, her 5-year-old son Xavier Lopez Vazquez, and their family during one of the most devastating moments of their lives.

On the night of December 31st, during New Year’s celebrations, gunshots were fired, and in a tragic and senseless moment, both Gloria and her young son Xavier were struck by bullets. What should have been a moment of hope and celebration instantly became a nightmare that forever changed their lives.

Gloria suffered a severe gunshot wound to the chest, dangerously close to her heart. She was rushed into emergency surgery, where doctors worked to remove the bullet and repair the damage. Her condition remains extremely serious, and doctors have told us her recovery will be long, complex, and uncertain. She may face many months — possibly up to a year — before she can regain basic abilities such as breathing independently, walking, or returning to daily life.

Xavier, only 5 years old, was shot in the head. He is currently unresponsive and in a medically induced coma, fighting for his life. No child should ever have to endure this, and no parent should have to witness their child in this condition.

During this time, Gloria and Xavier will need extensive care, including:

• Emergency and ongoing hospital treatment

• Additional surgeries and rehabilitation

• Specialized medical equipment and medications

• Physical and long-term therapy

• Daily assistance and basic living support, as Gloria will be unable to work

The financial burden of this tragedy is overwhelming. We are asking for help so the family can focus on what matters most — Gloria and Xavier’s healing, survival, and recovery — without the added fear of how medical bills and basic needs will be covered. It will be a while before Gloria can go back to work if she is even able to after this horrible shooting. STOP THE GUN FIRES!!! PLEASE
