Help Glenn Recover Safely At Home

For those who know Glenn, you know he is impossible to forget. Glenn is not just my brother — he is the heart of our family. Despite living with cognitive disabilities his entire life, Glenn has always had a beautiful spirit that shines through everything he does. He has the kindest heart of anyone you could ever meet and brings joy everywhere he goes with his warm smile, gentle soul, and his incredible handmade greeting cards that he lovingly creates for family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. Making people happy is simply who Glenn is. For the past 13 years, after the loss of our mother, my husband and I have lovingly cared for Glenn full-time to make sure he could continue living in a safe, loving home surrounded by family. Recently, our lives changed overnight. Glenn underwent major surgery on his hip and leg, and while we are beyond grateful the surgery was successful, his recovery has been physically overwhelming and emotionally exhausting for our family.

Glenn is finally back home where he belongs, but his needs are now far greater than what our home is currently equipped to handle. Every single day has become a struggle. Simple things most people never think twice about — helping Glenn bathe safely, getting him in and out of the house, transporting him to appointments, helping him move safely throughout the home, and preventing dangerous falls — have become incredibly difficult without proper accessibility equipment and modifications. For many years, my husband and I have provided 24/7 care for Glenn with love and dedication. We are doing everything we possibly can to continue caring for him safely at home, but the reality is that we desperately need additional support and occasional in-home caregiving assistance so we can simply catch our breath, rest, and continue being there for Glenn long-term. But after his recent surgery we have reached a point of complete physical and emotional exhaustion. We are asking for help to provide Glenn with the essential accommodations and care he urgently needs so he can heal safely, maintain his dignity, and continue living at home with the family who loves him so deeply.

The costs we are facing include: a handicap-accessible vehicle, permanent wheelchair ramp, walk-in shower installation, bathroom accessibility modifications, medical equipment, mobility aids, in-home caregiving assistance, and ongoing care needs. These are not luxuries. They are necessities for Glenn’s safety, recovery, and quality of life. If you are unable to donate, we completely understand — but we ask from the bottom of our hearts that you please share Glenn’s story. Sometimes one share can reach the person who is able to change someone’s life. Our family has always tried to carry this responsibility quietly and with love, but today we are humbly reaching out because Glenn truly needs help. Every donation, every share, every prayer, and every kind word means more than we could ever express. Thank you for taking the time to read Glenn’s story and for helping us give him the safe and dignified life he deserves. Please keep Glenn in your prayers and help us spread his story.
