Help Glenn Recover After Near Fatal Accident
Donation protected
On Sunday night, April 13, my brother Glenn was in a devastating accident while working out on the water. The impact caused severe trauma to his body, including a ruptured aortic arch—a life-threatening tear in the largest artery of the body.
Thanks to the skill of three vascular surgeons and a specialised graft flown in from Melbourne, Glenn is hanging in there. Without immediate intervention, he would not have made it.
Following the aorta repair, Glenn needed to have his head injury attended to by plastics (mostly to help him look pretty again!) and he has sustained multiple other fractures and injuries throughout his body including a vertical sternum fracture and broken ribs.
He’s not out of the woods yet and has a long road to recovery ahead.
Why We're Asking for Your Help
Glenn is a devoted dad to four kids, a hard-working, big-hearted guy, and an incredible brother, uncle, and friend. He is one of the toughest people I know, rates 10/10 pain as a 2, and would never ask for help himself. He's also the first to show up when someone else needs him.
I’ve shit-stirred him a lot, henpecked him throughout our childhood (sibling duty!), but I'd be so lost without him. This is my way of trying to give back a little to someone who means the world to us.
If you’ve ever stayed at River's Edge Camping, you might know his beautiful wife Emma—they live just next door. Right now, she’s travelling back and forth between home and hospital while holding everything together for their family.
We’re asking for your help to ease the pressure during this incredibly difficult time.
Your donation will help cover:
- Travel and accommodation between hospital and home
- Living expenses while Glenn is unable to work
- Support for his four children during this critical time
- Rehab, recovery, and any out-of-pocket ongoing medical needs (eg: physio down the track)
Every Bit Helps
Glenn would never ask for help, but today we are—on his behalf. To help him heal, to support Emma and the kids, and to remind this beautiful family that they’re not alone.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. And if you’re not in a position to contribute, simply sharing this page is a huge help.
If you prefer using PayPal, I can transfer any donations from my account to Glenn and Emma. Copy the following link into a browser: paypal.me/KristyTideyArt
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of Glenn’s recovery. Your support means everything right now.
