My brother Glenn opened his first business, the Farm River Café, in August 2019 and poured his savings and life into it. He even met his wife, Maja, at the café a few short months after opening, and they were married in the café in February 2020. The café was extremely special to them. Although COVID-19 threw a wrench in their long-term plans, Glenn, Maja and their two (soon to be three) daughters recently sold their home and moved to Canton to be closer to the Café in anticipation of reopening and furthering their dream. In the early hours of Tuesday August 10th, a 3-alarm fire ravaged the New Hartford House building which housed the Cafe. They lost everything. Fortunately, and miraculously, all tenants in the building escaped with their lives. However, most business owners and tenants who called The New Hartford House “home” are struggling to figure out what comes next. For Glenn and Maja, insurance will cover most outstanding debts, but it will not cover the costs to rebuild their vision.
Glenn and Maja would never ask for your financial support, but we (their family), are. Please join us in showing your support for them and their business. Thank you all and God bless.
