Help Glenn Get a Kidney

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

I am raising funds for one of my closest friends, Glenn Troupe, to be able to afford to the costs associated with receiving a kidney.

When he was in high school, Glenn lost a kidney to bacterial meningitis. On February 12, 2016, he lost his other working kidney due to being overworked and scarred over. Since then, Glenn has had to run dialysis from home 5 days a week for three hours at a time with the help of his wife/caregiver, Bethany.

He has had to deal with multiple infections, foregoing regular activities due to his rigid dialysis schedule, and the tole it has taken on his overall health, such as hindering his weight loss journey and having to follow specific dietary restrictions which are fatal if not followed carefully.

Glenn has had bariatric surgery to lose weight in order to receive a new kidney. Since then, he has lost a total of 192 pounds, and now needs to lose only 38 more pounds before being placed on the active waitlist for a kidney. Surgery takes place very shortly after being placed on the active wait list.

His goal, alongside the advice of his medical team, is to have the kidney transplant in about 8 months, but as soon as he has the financial means to do so and has lost the 38 pounds, he will be eligible and able to receive a kidney.

Glenn has been working with Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to receive a new kidney. Living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, extensive travel and extended out-of-state stay is required. He will stay in the hospital for about a week, and then have to stay in the Rochester, MN area for about a month during his recovery.

Due to travel costs, extended stay rental, lost wages from work (for both him and his wife Bethany), and still having to pay bills at home during this time, I hope to raise the amount needed to cover all that comes along with his kidney transplant.

Thank you for taking the time to read Glenn's story. Any amount of donation is appreciated to get this amazing person his new kidney!

Glenn is very involved in the Marquette and Upper Peninsula community, serving as the President of the Masonic Arts Theatre Fellowship and is the Union Steward and Inside Guide for United Steelworkers Local 4950 Negaunee. He has been a CNA at Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee, MI for 8 years.
