Hi, I'm Julie! In April of this year, my wonderful spouse Glenn went to the hospital with both a terrible skin infection and, as it turns out, Type II diabetes. The elevated sugar levels in his bloodstream gave the skin infection bacteria a glorious feast to grow on, and he had multiple surgeries to clean it all out.
We are beyond grateful to live in an era of antibiotics and appreciate the skilled surgeons and other helpful and kind healthcare workers. We are also thankful for family and friends' support during Glenn's recovery. He is doing much better now - the diabetes is well controlled, and he is enjoying exploring our beautiful local trails on his bike and coaching kids' roller hockey. We are delighted that he has had a smooth and positive recovery!
Unfortunately, we now have the stress of medical bills piling up. We are working to establish payment plans, but even with health insurance, it is a lot. It is a significant added stressor as Glenn develops new habits to support his health. We have had friends ask about helping, so I have set this up for those who can do that. (Please - take care of yourself first, and only contribute if you have it to spare.)
