Hi my name is Glenda Arostegui. My family and l are living in a very stressful and dangerous situation. We are currently living in a downstairs unit in a house. We have been trying to save money to move out but it has been hard. The elders who live with me are retired with limited funds. I am the only one working at the moment. Recently, one of the neighbors upstairs physically assaulted me in the garage we share. I ended up going to the ER. I haven't pressed charges yet in fear of retaliation, since we live in close proximity to the neighbors. Our landlord favors the neighbors upstairs and tells me that l need to be "tolerant and forgiving." I think he favors the neighbors because he gets more rent money from them. Since the incident in my garage, the neighbors upstairs have been playing loud music almost every day for hours at a time. My landlord doesn't do anything about it. I have reached out to different community resources but it's been a long process. It's extremely urgent that we move out. I also found out through the city code enforcement that we live in a unit that is illegal and not up to code in which the landlord was aware of since he's been receiving violation notices. The amount l'm asking for should be enough to help pay for 1st month and deposit. I know it's a lot to ask for, so any contributions would be greatly appreciated.
