Help Glen Schaefer recover from flood losses

During March 2021 the Mid North Coast has been inundated with some of the worst flooding in its history.

The house I have been renting for the 4 years on a lovely property near Scotts Head got completely flooded on Friday 19th March 2021, and I had to evacuate by walking through waste high water over 300m to the road with my two beautiful dogs swimming beside me, carrying a backpack over my head.

Sadly I have pretty much lost everything I own except my laptop and phone, plus a few clothes. I do have contents and car insurance but the process is slow and will take considerable time before the claims are assessed and completed. My reliable 2013 Mazda CX5 is also a complete write off, along with everything else I own.

I work in Kempsey and need a reliable car asap to maintain my employment and will require some funds to cover my moving and temporary accommodation costs while I wait for the insurance claims. 

I will also need to find some new permanent rental accommodation, not too far from the Scotts Head/Kempsey/Macksville area which is going to be difficult as the entire region is experiencing a rental property crisis since the COVID pandemic started in March 2020.

It's not like me at all to ask for help in this way, but I have had a lot of wonderful friends from Twitter, Facebook and my local community encourage me to do this.

I am so grateful for everyone's support and friendship, especially in a life changing moment like this. I am still in shock how someone can lose everything they own, and have their whole life turned upside in just a few hours but I know I will get through this challenging time.
