Help Glen Avigdor Battle Cancer
Donation protected
Glen Avigdor, a longtime Toronto resident, world traveler and artist has recently been diagnosed with terminal esophageal cancer. Glen came to Port Hope a year ago, after being unable to find safe, affordable housing in Toronto, and struggling with accessing the mental health services he needed. Sadly, his is not an unfamiliar story. After living for a time with his childhood friend Phil Redford, he found very basic accommodation in downtown Port Hope. He has been working really hard over the past year, to establish himself in the area and get the help he needs. This recent diagnosis is devastating, and he has been told it is Stage 4. Glen's goal of getting mentally and physically healthy so he could return to work and find an improved living situation have been shattered.
Phil and his partner Janet are supporting him as best they can, making sure he gets to appointments and treatments here in Cobourg and Oshawa, being his advocate and helping him pay for medication and supplies not covered by our health system. Whatever you can contribute will further their efforts to support Glen in living whatever time he has left in a more supportive environment, and with dignity, and hopefully joy, and they thank you for your consideration and help.
