Hi everyone, I’m Gizmo’s mom and adopted him back in October from Casa Dog. He was rescued from Tijuana and I picked him up the day he was transported to start his trial adoption. I quickly fell in love with him and have been making sure he is living his best and healthiest life. He unfortunately has had some dental issues and we just discovered at 7.5 months he lost the dental lottery, none of his teeth have roots and will need to undergo some surgeries to make sure he stays healthy and happy and this will entail extractions.

 

He had to go see a dental specialist and get X-rays, a cat scan and then surgeries of which it’s looking like will need to happen in two different visits to ensure he’s safe. This includes removal of a cyst in his gums and some teeth that are in his jaw bone and are misshapen so this is a very careful procedure to ensure his jaw stays in tact. The costs for this are exorbitant and unplanned, and due to being a puppy I didn’t have the appropriate insurance that would cover these costs. I had him on a puppy wellness plan that doesn’t cover anything dental because puppies don’t typically have any dental issues, and accident insurance which covers an accident, so a broken tooth would fall into that category.
