On Sunday, September 25th at approximately 11:30pm, we found this poor guy laying in the middle of Chaires Crossroad. He was too weak to move and had obviously been on his own for some time. After taking him to an emergency vet roughly an hour later, the news we received was troubling. He has multiple health issues, is not microchipped and in the words of the vet, "on a scale from 1-10 health wise, this dog is at a 1 & a half." We figured we would bring him home and help make him comfortable regardless of his chances of survival, however, we found that response from the vet unacceptable and are determined to bring this beautiful dog back to full health. Unfortunately, our hearts are bigger than our wallets and Stevie, (what we've decided to call him due to my wife's love of Stevie Wonder, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Stevie Nicks), is in need of immediate and constant medical attention. He is severely underweight, can't stand on his own, lost a lot of blood and has severe lesions, a skin rash and will need multiple I.V.s for the next 3 months. We never ask for anything for ourselves, but have no problem reaching out to our community for monetary and volunteer support if it means we can save Stevie's life.
