My heart broke on the highway when I saw a tiny kitten lying between lanes, struggling to stand up. Cars rushed by, she was barely moving—just tried, over and over, to lift herself up. I was terrified she was badly hurt, but I couldn’t leave her there. I gently scooped her up, wrapped her in my jacket, and started making calls.
I drove from shelter to shelter, clinic to clinic—each one turned me away. One even suggested euthanasia without an exam. I couldn’t accept that. I was on a hiking trip at the time, so I set up a little bed, a makeshift litter box, and did what I could to care for her. Miraculously, the next morning she stood up. She was limping, unable to use her front paw, but alert, sweet, and clearly full of life.
An urgent care clinic in Tulare agreed to see her. They suggested the paw injury might be old, and that she’s likely only around six months old. The initial vet estimate came to $1,650 and that’s just a beginning. She still needs x-rays, blood work, vaccinations, and possibly surgery or even amputation.
She’s now safe in my home, recovering and receiving love, while I search for her forever family.
So many kind people have asked how they can help, so I’ve created this GoFundMe to cover her medical care and recovery.
Every dollar makes a difference in giving this resilient little soul the future she deserves. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion and support—it truly means the world.
With love,
Ania
