This weekend, while hiking with his dog, my friend Travis heard faint cries coming from the bushes. When he looked closer, he found a tiny white French Bulldog puppy curled up and barely clinging to life. She was cold, scared, and clearly in pain.

Travis rushed her to the nearest emergency vet clinic, where they discovered she had a broken shoulder and would need surgery within the next two weeks to heal properly. If the surgery is delayed any longer, her bone may start to heal incorrectly — meaning they’d have to rebreak it in order to repair it, causing even more trauma and pain.

Wanting to do the right thing, Travis posted on Facebook in hopes of finding the owners. After some digging, he learned the heartbreaking truth: this puppy had been intentionally dumped in the woods because her owners couldn’t afford the surgery she needed. Rather than surrender her to a shelter or seek help, they left her behind — injured and alone.

Right now, she’s safe and recovering at Travis’s house, resting with her little arm wrapped and secured while they wait for surgery. But the clock is ticking.

Her surgery will cost around $3,000, and unfortunately, Travis can’t afford that kind of expense on his own.
