Help Give Sam A Voice

Donation protected
Updated as of 12/5/18: At this time we are no longer accepting donations. The goal has been exceeded. Sam and his family are overwhelmed by all of the love and financial support. I personally want to thank you for going above and beyond to bless this family! Sam has been able to enjoy using the NeuroNode with his family and peers at school. YOU gave Sam a voice!! Thank you! May God richly bless each of you and your families, especially at this most special season.

Update as of 11/18/18 : We have met our goal!! I say OUR, because I couldn’t have raised this money without all of you! With these online donations added to the offline donation, we have reach the $14,079 goal. The last few days have been amazing! The love and generosity shown is beautiful!! There just aren’t words for how excited I am! Sam is going to be stoked!!!!

At this point, any money added to the campaign will go to Sam’s continued medical care. Thank you, again, for being so wonderful to him and his family. Thank you for being a blessing! God bless!

Original Campaign Message below.

Sam. He is one of those people that despite all that life has thrown at him, he smiles. And believe me, his smile is contagious! Although it can be painful and is acutely physically exhausting, Sam goes to school each day. He wants to interact with his peers. He continues to play baseball. He loves people.

Unfortunately, over the last 10 years, his abilities have severely declined, and although he can speak, it is slow and labored. Often times, no more than a word or two at a time. He can raise his hand but cannot write. He perseveres through the fatigue and is always ready for the next new challenge. A new day. Same great smile.

I can’t imagine what it must feel like for him, to have gradually lost his independence since his diagnosis at 6 years old. He cannot walk, run on the baseball field, swing a bat, write his name on his paper. This smart young man is trapped in his body by metachromatic leukodystrophy. However, he’s excited to learn and be alive and make the most of each day! Inspiring.

God has placed Sam in my life for a reason. In fact, he has been a gift. I have yet to meet a person who doesn’t think this kid is incredible. As we are called to love our neighbor, I would love to be able to grant both Sam and his family the ease of communication once again. Give Sam the freedom to voice his opinions without having to repeat himself. Be able to text as his peers do. Just be a typical teenager. That is what Sam desires.

Although this device is very expensive, we have seen its impact on Sam’s life. It allows him to gain back some of the independence he has lost. He can more easily talk to his family, teachers, and friends. When his mom asked him if he would like to “have this thing forever,” Sam said, “Yes!”

So, as Sam’s parents were able to bring the Miracle League to our community, blessing not only their son who loves baseball, but other children with disabilities, please consider supporting the purchase of the NeuroNode that will help this family make the most out of the time they have left with each other.

I am hoping this device can be purchased for Sam to enjoy by his Christmas holiday. Any funds raised above the goal will be used for Sam's additional medical needs and expenses. Thank you for your time, prayers, and your donation!!!!
