Hi, my name is Sierra and Rupert came into my family's lives 6 months ago. Rupert came at a time when we all needed a little friend to greet us at the door, or to snuggle beside us after a long hard day.
Rupert has been passed down from multiple owners, and despite the transition between homes he has maintained a sense of curiosity, an abundance of love, and an ever evolving quirkiness that includes nibbling our faces and trying to steal our leftovers.
Unfortunately, in late April of 2025 we came home to find Rupert bleeding from his stomach and we soon discovered that Rupert has a rare form of cancer known as Feline Ventral Abdominal Lymphangiosarcoma. The wonderful veterinarians at All Paws in Whitehorse, Yukon were able to perform surgery with the goal of removing all cancerous cells. Despite the veterinarians best efforts, Rupert's margins were not clean and we received news that Rupert will require another life saving surgery.
This surgery is set to take place in Victoria, British Columbia where an experienced team of veterinarians who specialize in Rupert's type of cancer will remove the remaining cancerous cells, as well as provide a skin graft due to the size of the mass being removed.
Our family would not normally ask for help, but Rupert's surgery is estimated to cost upwards of $15,000 not including the flights to and from Victoria.
As an animal lover, and caretaker of my sweet Rupert I'm not ready to say goodbye to my fuzzy friend. Any amount, big or small will help contribute to Rupert's second chance at life.
