On March 25, 2026, we lost Ronald A. Korpowski—a kind, gentle, and fiercely independent man who called Garfield Heights, Ohio home for most of his 70 years. Ron grew up in Garfield Heights, attended St. Monica Parish, and graduated from Garfield Heights High School. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Ohio University and went on to work at Lemco, Seglens Florist, and CLS Facility Services, where he served as a Vendor Relations Manager. In recent years, Ron's health had declined significantly. He lived alone at his family home on Rockside Road—the same house where he and his brother grew up. My mother, Beverly Hastings, was Ron's closest friend and the one person who stood by him through it all. She visited him regularly, helped him with daily needs, called paramedics when he fell, and was there for him when no one else was.
There is no life insurance, and his retirement savings were depleted before his passing. The estate has no liquid funds to cover funeral costs. Beverly has already signed a contract with Latek & Rybicki Family Funeral Homes in Broadview Heights for cremation services. This includes basic funeral home services and staff, transfer of remains, cremation with a Mystic Blue Cultured Marble Urn, and an online obituary. Ron's ashes will be laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield, Ohio, near his mother Florentine—a wish he expressed to those closest to him.
We are asking for help to cover these costs and any additional expenses related to the cemetery. Every dollar helps, and anything beyond the funeral costs will go toward settling Ron's remaining obligations. Ron didn't ask for much in life. He lived simply. He deserved better than what life dealt him in the end. Please help us give him a dignified farewell. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. -- Weldon Hastings & Beverly Hastings
