Help give Peggysue her best chance of survival!
Donation protected
Peggysue Magowan, our Mother, has been diagnosed and has been battling blood and bone marrow cancer for over a year now. It's been a hectic year of chemo treatments, doctors’ appointments, hurdle after hurdle with her health, and bag after bag of donated blood. Unfortunately, with this specific cancer, the medical professionals only give a life span of 2.5 years from first being diagnosed and they advised that the chemo treatments will stop working and she won't be able to survive for much longer if our Mother doesn't receive a Stem Cell Transplant immediately.
Peggysue has recently found out that the doctors have found a bone marrow donor for the Stem Cell Transplant with her exact match and they have booked the Stem Cell Transplant this January, 2019, in Vancouver. Peggysue will be travelling to Vancouver from Kamloops to start her intense chemo treatments and to get her body ready for the highly invasive and risky Stem Cell Transplant surgery. Peggysue will be in Vancouver General Hospital for 3 months and then she will have to spend another 3 months in a room beside the hospital so she can be in close proximity just in case anything happens in that time as she will be highly sensitive to infection while her entire immune system, among other body systems, have to rebuild.
Peggysue will need to be as healthy as possible for this transplant to give her the best chance of living through it. We would like to use the money raised to help jump start her body into a cancer killing mode with special medicine from the United States. Peggysue has been taking a small dose of this medicine every day for over a year now and it's been helping immensely but she needs to start taking a lot more of it in order for the medicine to have a longer lasting effect, and unfortunately this medicine is very expensive so we haven't been able to get more of it.
Peggysue has also had almost all of her teeth removed this week to prevent the risk of infection after the transplant; the doctors will not take any chances of infection while she is healing. If we are able to raise enough money, we would also like to help our Mother get some teeth so she will be able to eat healthier on the low financial budget that she has and so that she does not have to worry about what she can or cannot eat during difficult, stressful times, and hopefully the rest of her long life.
We appreciate ANY support you are willing to give , whether it be a donation or a nice positive message for her to read. This is a major hurdle mentally and physically for our Mother and we will need all the positive vibes and help we can get. If you have any questions we are willing to answer them.
Thank you so much for helping our Momma-bear have the best chance at a healthy and longer life! ♥️
