We got Lazuli along with her sister Lapis almost 10 years ago from a rancher in Colorado who kept their feral parents around to help him hunt coyotes that were stalking his cattle. We originally only wanted Lapis and didn't even know about Lazuli until we went to get the former and had to also get the latter because they were clearly bonded and inseparable.
During the drive from Colorado to Oregon in 2017 she was the only cat out of three who didn't make a sound the entire 20+ hours in the car because she was just happy we were all together.
When she was five she kept getting stuck in the bathrooms because she liked the cold sinks so we got her one of her own which ended up making her internet famous for 15 minutes on the dodo:
While we were pregnant with our son she was inseparable with him growing and donated so many of her deep purrs to his development.
Now she's lost considerable weight in just a year and after many tests they feel convinced she has a mild to severe form of leukemia and they need to do a biopsy to find out more. Additionally, the biopsy will entail removing most of the growth in her lymph nodes in her neck and immediately improve her quality of life. They also can't start her on steroid treatment until a biopsy is performed so she's in a bit of a holding pattern until we can pay for this surgery.
She really wants to be here and our son adores her and it makes us sad to think he might not get as many memories of her if we don't do something. Please help our sweet Lazuli.
The estimate is for $5175.17 → $6161.16 so we are asking for $4000 to help us get across the line.
