our son was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) when he was just 8 years old. From that moment, our lives changed forever. HCM is a serious heart condition that causes the heart muscle to thicken, making it harder for the heart to pump blood effectively. For our son, this diagnosis meant he could never run around and play like other kids his age. Simple childhood joys were often out of reach because his heart just couldn’t keep up.
When he was 12, he suffered his first heart attack. It was terrifying beyond words. Shortly after, doctors implanted a pacemaker to help regulate his heart rhythm and keep him alive. But the challenges didn’t stop there. Over the years, he has endured multiple heart attacks and countless hospital visits. In the last two years alone, he has had two pacemaker replacements. One particularly harrowing episode saw him suffer seven mini heart attacks in a single day, which culminated in a full-blown heart attack — all before he even turned 18.
Recently, we received devastating news: his heart function has dropped dramatically, from 55% to 40% in less than a year. He is now in heart failure. The doctors have told us that the only hope to save him is to get specialized treatment at a hospital in Boston, where a renowned doctor who specializes in HCM believes he can cure our son’s condition.
When he was 16, after another severe heart attack, he looked at the doctor and asked, “Is it my time to die now?” His pacemaker had gone off 12 times that day, and we nearly lost him. But through it all, he has remained incredibly brave and strong. He is so smart, so full of life, and he has his whole future ahead of him.
We are reaching out to you because we desperately need help to get him to Boston for this life-saving treatment. We pray every day for a miracle, and we believe that with your support, we can give him that chance. Please, if you can spare anything — even just £1 or £10 — it could help save our son from dying young.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity. Together, we can fight to keep him alive and give him the life he deserves.
