Hello everyone, I'm starting a fundraiser for my mom that is currently on life support. Her name is Dawn Gouyd, she is a mother to 2 kids; well 5 if you count my siblings she helped raise. She was diagnosed with vulvar cancer when I was 9-10 years old, throughout those next couple years she was very sick undergoing treatments which led me to taking care of the both of us. It was a very rare cancer back when it was found. She was believed to have a survival rate of 5 years at 5%. She ended up going into observation remission which means they would observe her medical history until she passes. Despite all of her efforts we ended up going homeless around 2014-2015, we lived in the Jeep for about 6m-1yr. We ended up relocating to Oklahoma where she could better support me financially and have a place for me to grow & be okay. Throughout our years here she never stopped fighting to support us & keep a roof on our head. She underwent a procedure that showed her cancer had came back and we had it removed, the doctor that removed it had messed up a major artery in her leg which means for the foreseeable future she would be able to walk on 1 leg. Years after that she went to get it fixed and the graph they ended up fixing her with busted and we almost lost her 3-4 years ago, she had major wounds in her legs that didn’t heal for a year. She was in the ICU & a recovery center for a year combined, about a year ago she got one of her legs fixed and was extremely happy. She finally was able to start walking and getting back to the normal life quality’s, this year we planned on getting her other leg fixed so we would be able to resume all normal walking function. Well about 3 weeks ago she had a scan of her lungs that determined she could possibly have lung cancer. Fast forward to Tuesday the 5th I brought home food and she was complaining that her chest hurt, I went up to check on her and it looked like she was turning blue while saying she couldn’t breathe so I ran my son downstairs. When I got back upstairs she said she couldn’t breathe for a final time and collapsed on her bed, when I picked her up there was no sign of consciousness. I proceeded to do 7 mins of CPR until EMSA arrived and was able to get her intubated and get a pulse back which means her heart stopped while I was performing CPR. When we got the hospital the ER Doctor said that she had went without oxygen for along time and that there was already signs of swelling in her brain. Throughout the past couple days I have been going through the toughest time of my life, there has been no sign of progression in her labs or tests. When took off the paralytic & the sedation meds she started to have mini involuntary relaxes that left her arms shaking like a seizure, they ended up having to continue the sedation and start a anti seizure medication. She started to go into multiple organ failure Wednesday afternoon, swelling in her brain has refused to go down despite all the efforts. The doctor came in this morning and did a couple more reflex tests and observations, he’s pretty confident her brain stem was crushed the past 24/48hrs due to the swelling in her brain. Which would mean that she would be diagnosed brain dead.. We are going to continue to pray and fight to hope things don’t go that direction, which if it does these funds would be used to help give my mom a service before her cremation. Any left over funds if possible will be used to the effort in disposing her ashes where she wanted. I figured this is worth a shot knowing how the internet is, I would be so extremely grateful as I am just now starting my life, career, and my own family. This is going to be extremely difficult on me & my family, we appreciate any & everyone’s prayers and help as we go through this difficult time.
