This is Rocky, a 16 year old massive loaf of a cat. My girlfriend adopted him from a friend who couldn't take care of him 5 years ago right before meeting him, and he's lived with the both of us ever since. He's been my only constant friend in this time aside from her, and even accompanied me in times when she had to be away and I had to be alone at home.
We discovered Rocky had a hypertrophic cardiomyopathy three months ago when he became lethargic because of a a pleural effusion. He got drained and made a quicky recovery, and has been a happy and playful cat in this time. They told us to check on him again in three months, and exactly around that time, two days ago, he had another, even worse pleural effusion. We had to take him to emergencies and give him a chest tap, and have another cardiologist visit. Yesterday, the cardiologist looked at him again and saw that his heart had developed into a dilated cardiomyopathy, and the risk of pleural effusion happening again is really high.
The total cost of the visits has amounted to nearly 800 euros from the emergency visit, analytics, drainage, hospitalization, echocardiogram, and taxis for transport, all at two different vets (the emergency one and the regular one), plus nearly an additional 250 in medications we bought (one of them being a 60 euro box of furosemide pills we bought three days ago that we no longer need since we've been told to switch to subdermal injections for it), syringes, gloves, and food he no longer eats. He hasn't eaten in all day except for a couple of treats. We spent all our money on trying to make him better, but it didn't work; now he seems to meow in pain, pumped up with furosemide injections, sedatives and appetite inducers, and we don't have enough to give him euthanasia and a proper cremation. Every hour it seems like he's getting worse, and we can't make him wait a week until we get paid again. The process shouldn't be too expensive, but we're that strapped for cash: the euthanasia might cost a maximum of 70-80 euros, plus the visit costs (80 additional euros), plus the funeral costs (160-200 euros). I ask for, at most, 360 euros to cover it all, but any amount is good enough to help us.
I thought I would spend my Christmas with my cat, but he's ill and at this rate, will be gone by Christmas morning. I don't want him to suffer anymore. Please help him pass away peaceful and spare him of another week of suffering like this.
