I am raising funds for my cousin Michael Benjamin that just lost his fight with covid earlier today, Dec 24th. Michael loved Christmas, so this is especially hard. He was sick for a short period of time and spent most of that in a coma fighting for his life until he couldn't fight anymore. Michael was only 32 years old and had his whole life ahead of him. We are still in shock. We were all hoping he would be able to pull through and now must face the terrible reality that he is no longer with us.

Throughout his life he loved church, learning about all aspects of our family tree, and helping people. He took after my grandmother Ollie Mary as the keeper of family history and always made sure to show up for family friends in their time of need. He traced our family roots all the way to Virginia and was in the process of sharing his knowledge with me. He has a group on facebook where he would share small facts about our ancestors from time to time. He was always visiting older community members, doing charity drives around school supplies and raising money for basic necessities for those in his community and beyond.

This hurts so bad because Michael and I grew up together at our Grandma Mary's house in Lincoln -Larimer. He is in all of my early memories and was my first friend. He introduced me to Whitney Houston and so much more. I hope he's finally able to meet her <3
