Help give Leona a truly deserved send off

As many of you are aware Leona tragically passed away at the tender age of 43 on Thursday 15th June from a catastrophic sudden bleed on the brain. At approximately 10.30am on Tuesday 13th June on her way to work a passer by witnessed Leona fall from her bike. He approached Leona to find her unresponsive, this wonderful stranger managed to get her heart beating for her to be airlifted to hospital. On her arrival she was eventually stabilised and spent the next 3 days on intensive care where myself and her loved ones never left her side, despite all efforts from the incredible ICU staff at the QMC it was devastatingly proven she had suffered brain stem death. During this time I was reminded that Leona was on the organ donor register. This makes perfect sense as in life Leona was the most selfless and giving person and even in her death nothing has changed. Leona had the biggest heart and smile to match with by far the best sense of humour, she was loyal, hardworking and fiercely independent which is a clear reflection in her beautiful 14 year old daughter who she sadly leaves behind. The only good that will prevail from Leona’s passing is the comfort of knowing that she has given the gift of life to 5 people, which is beyond amazing and we are so proud of her! Leona has given everything she can in this life and is a true hero. It’s time that we give back to her and make sure she has the send off she deserves.
