My name is Carly and I am creating this fundraiser for my brother Aaron and sister-in-law Laine in hopes of raising enough money to cover some if not all of their IVF treatment and help them achieve their dream of becoming parents.
This will include hormone therapy, medications, sperm donor, storage fees, appointments and consultations, egg retrieval, embryo storage, the implantation procedure itself, the list goes on and on and they need our help because their appointment is in August to get everything started!
Little bit of history behind two of my favorite people: Laine and Aaron met in high school and got married 10 years later on April 25, 2025. Ever since I can remember, my brother has wanted to be a parent, even helping raise our youngest brother before my parents lost custody of both of them due to severe abuse. Laine has always wanted to become a mom as well, working with children including those with special needs is her passion.
The real heartache for me began when I become a mom myself. Watching them bond and nurture their relationship with my two boys every time they visit, and the effort they put in every day as aunt and uncle does not go unnoticed. From daily hour-long Facetime calls (they live on the other side of Canada), to surprise toys at the door, to full presence and devotion when they visit in person, I dont think I have seen two people more deserving of their own child.
Now for the obstacles they have faced, and the reasoning behind me creating this fundraiser:
My brother Aaron is a Trans-male (ie. was born female, transitioned to male). Therefore, when Laine and he decided to have a family, from the beginning they knew there would be a challenge. After going through the process of selecting a sperm donor, they started their family making journey with a round of IUI (intrauterine insemination). This process itself is not cheap, and cost them $8000 between meds, sperm donor, and the appointments and procedures that were a part of IUI. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful, and after extensive lab workups, Laine also learned she suffers from insulin-resistant PCOS, as well as hyperthyroidism; two conditions that will require medication to correct and help her conceive.
The next big step in their family making journey is nearing quickly and they need our help! Laine and Aaron received a call today that their IVF procedure is scheduled for August, a few short months away.
This is not a cheap procedure, but ot is the only way my brother and his wife can become the parents they have always wanted to. Aaron is currently off on disability until his hip surgery in June, where he plans to recover and return to work full time, but is currently on a fixed income. Laine is working her butt off: one fulltime job and two part time ones, just to make ends meet and raise money towards their lifelong dream.
They deserve this, they have done more self-work and wanting and wishing and hoping more than any couple I know.
Please help me make their dreams of having a baby come true
