Shayah’s Future and Katie’s Send Off
On Wednesday 4th August we unexpectedly lost a big part of us. We have no words to describe the dark and emptiness in our hearts! Our friend Katie fought as hard as she could, but Gods plan was different to our own.
Katie was only 27 and beat cancer twice! She managed to beat covid once but the second time she wasn’t strong enough resulting in her loosing her life.
Katie’s Story
Katie was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at 17 years old, after discovering a lump on her neck. After several cycles of chemotherapy she was told she would need a stem cell transplant. Thankfully, Katie found a transplant and managed to beat cancer.
Katie was told that she would be unable to concieve naturally. In 2016, by God's grace, Katie fell pregnant with her daughter Shayah who is a true blessing.
In 2019 at 25 years old, Katie was given the devastating news that the cancer had returned and was way more aggressive. Katie had stage 4 cancer and needed to undergo another transplant operation in the hope of staying alive for her daughter.
Once again the fighter that she was, allowed her to beat cancer for the 2nd time with another successful transplant even when the odds were against her. She fought battles that she didn’t deserve.
Almost a year later during Katie's road to recovery she contracted Covid Pneumonia and sadly lost her battle leaving behind her wonderful 4 year old daughter.
Those that knew Katie would describe her as loyal, caring, loving, vibrant, fun, wild and crazy! This didn’t change even when she had cancer. If anything it made her want to enjoy life more. You honestly couldn’t get more YOLO than Katie! Katie always had a smile on her face and remained positive no matter what she was going through. She could be in pain and you wouldn’t even know. Katie was so selfless and was loved by many for her energetic and caring nature, her presence was felt in any room! Mighty and known for her courage.
She was someone you could depend on in your darkest times as well as the friend you’d have the best time with!
You wasn’t allowed to cry around her, she really was the strongest person we knew.
Not only was she an amazing mother, partner, daughter and friend but she was the perfect role model too.
Katie would have qualified as a mental health nurse this year. It saddens us that her body quit on her when she wasn’t one to ever give up! She even completed her dissertation from her hospital bed!
We’re so proud of what she accomplished whilst she was here. Her life was short lived but we really do have amazing memories that will last a life time.
We want to give Katie the burial she deserves to honor her memory and say our last goodbyes. Her family would appreciate any help they can get to cover the cost of funeral expenses. The money will also be used to help support her four year old daughter Shayah.
Sadly no go fund me page can take away the fact that our friend is no longer with us but what it can do is help with giving her a deserving send off.
This is hard on all of us especially those closest to her. Any donations or thoughts would be very appreciated.
Thank you all for taking the time to read this page and donate xxxx
