Help Give Joe Teixeira a Dignified Farewell

Like many, I was lucky to have met Joe Texeira during his time here on earth. Joe was always the first to help people, give solid advice without judgment, and was always fun to be around.

Some of us met Joe early in life and many others along his life's journey. Maybe during his time as a consultant in Washington, DC, his many years in the Lounge Industry in New Bedford, doing what he loved best, playing in his band allowing him to meet and socialize with people, driving limousines or his favorite time with his friends playing on the pool leagues. During the last couple of years he spent supplementing his limited disability by operating on his physically capable days running JoeJoe Scrap out of New Bedford. Each and every day of his life was about meeting, serving, entertaining, and helping people.

Despite these qualities we rarely find in people these days, he passed away suddenly and alone this past weekend. Having no close next of kin and no one to reclaim his remains, a few of his close friends are working to raise money to allow them to claim his remains for cremation and a proper burial. Joe only had his mom, whom he cared for during her remaining years while putting his life on hold. When she passed away, he used his life savings to have her cremated, which led him to pass in a very poor financial state with nothing left that would allow for himself when his time came.
