There are moments in life when we have the opportunity to change someone's future forever. Today, I'm asking you to join me in supporting a family who means so much to me.
Meet Jocelyn, whose name means "joyful." It couldn't describe her better. Even through years of medical challenges, she continues to brighten the lives of those around her with her kind heart, resilient spirit, and beautiful smile.
In 2022, Jocelyn was diagnosed with severe scoliosis. For more than two years, she faithfully attended appointments and followed every recommended treatment, hoping to see improvement. But despite everyone's best efforts, one thing became increasingly concerning—Jocelyn wasn't growing.
As her doctors searched for answers, they ordered additional testing. In 2024, her family received devastating news: Jocelyn had Stage 5 chronic kidney disease (kidney failure). Her kidneys had been silently failing, affecting her growth, bone health, and overall development. What everyone believed was a journey to treat scoliosis became the beginning of an entirely different battle.
For nearly a year and a half, Jocelyn has relied on dialysis to keep her alive. While dialysis has sustained her, it is not a cure. Despite faithfully undergoing treatment, her laboratory results have shown little meaningful improvement, and she has gradually begun experiencing the ongoing effects of Stage 5 kidney failure on her body. A kidney transplant offers her the best chance to improve her health, regain her strength, and enjoy the future every young person deserves.
After carefully exploring their options, Jocelyn's family is beginning the process of pursuing a living donor kidney transplant in Thailand. Thailand was chosen because it offers internationally recognized transplant expertise while making this life-saving treatment significantly more affordable than many other countries. Even so, the cost remains far beyond what the family can afford on their own.
Before the transplant can move forward, they must complete the required medical evaluations and raise the funds needed for the transplant, as well as the essential travel and temporary stay in Thailand required by the transplant program.
The current fundraising goal is AUD 131,358 ($94,401 USD) which includes the estimated medical costs along with the essential travel and accommodation expenses required for Jocelyn, her living donor, and a caregiver throughout the transplant process.
A detailed estimate of the expected medical costs provided by the hospital is available here:

Please note that this goal reflects the estimated minimum expenses required to begin the transplant process. It does not include potential additional costs such as dialysis before the transplant, medications (including lifelong anti-rejection medications), treatment for complications, local transportation, meals, or extended hospital stays should they become necessary.
Every donation, no matter the amount, brings Jocelyn one step closer to receiving the life-saving transplant she urgently needs. If you're unable to give financially, sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, church, workplace, and community is another meaningful way to help.
Most importantly, Jocelyn and her family would be deeply grateful for your prayers as they begin this journey. They remain hopeful that, with the support of compassionate people like you, Jocelyn will one day leave dialysis behind, regain her health, and look forward to the future every young woman deserves.
Thank you for opening your heart to Jocelyn's story. Your kindness, generosity, prayers, and support mean more than words can express. Together, we can help give this joyful young woman the second chance at life she so desperately needs.
