Help Give Jim Time in His Home
Spende geschützt
Hello!
My step-father, Jim Standard, is in need of help. In December of 2021, he was diagnosed with Lewy Body, Vascular, and Frontal Temporal Dementia. This disease has made it impossible for him to continue his work as a Stained Glass artist, his career since 1975.
We are trying to keep him in his apartment, a familiar place that he loves, while figuring out the process of navigating the stages of the disease. Jim is still capable of many of his everyday functions. He enjoys tea and sweet bread in the morning for a breakfast he shares with the birds of the creek outside his back porch, while listening to his favorite music on youtube.
He loves life!
The Dementia interrupted a commision Jim was trying to acquire, to fashion a window for a home in San Fransisco last year. It was painful for him to realize he would be unable to complete and sell stained glass art pieces moving forward.
The symptoms of his condition have been present for a while but became bad enough last September that we scheduled appointments with doctors, then with the neurologist, then with the MRI machine.
Jim needs help. While we have found many systems and wonderful people who can help with the physical needs of living, any systemic help with rent is a year or more on a waiting list.
We are working on getting on all the lists and contacting all the agencies, but in the meantime, any aid would be very appreciated! The money raised will go to Jim to help him stay in his familiar, artistic environment for as long as possible, by helping with rent.
Please go to www.prizmagic.com to enjoy the art Jim has made throughout the years! His art is still reflecting light in the New Mexico dessert at the Mandala Center, and in many Bay Area homes!
