The world has lost a beautiful soul, our beloved Ian Achira Ochola.
Ian passed away on Monday October 11th 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Ian was a peaceful, hardworking, incredibly resilient, strong and determined young man who was great at playing chess and enjoyed classical music. He was born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya and completed his high school education at the prestigious Starehe Boys Center. Afterwards, through hard work and determination, he achieved his greatest dream by graduating from Cornell University, Class of 2021 and recently joined Goldman Sachs in Salt Lake City, Utah.

We were incredibly blessed to have Ian as a son, brother, cousin, nephew, and a friend. Ian is survived by his family in Kenya - father Tom Omao Moses, mother Anne Ochola, sisters Kate & Barbra Omao and in America - Ginny Grayden, Doug Keefe, Marie Richardson, Charllie & Nancy Trautmann, Reba McCutcheon and the greater Cornell Community that he considered family. He was cheerful and always strived to be happy! He was truly our shooting star. He brought so much light and joy into our lives, but he left us too soon. He will surely live forever in our hearts, and we will miss his ever-contagious smile.
His funeral service and burial will be held in Kenya at a later date. The celebration of Ian’s life will also be held in Ithaca on November 6th, 2021. Further information will be announced.
